San Francisco democrat moderates win; Mayor London Breed’s appointees retain seats. Voter turnout has reached 33.72% so far, and approximately 137,000 ballots remain to be counted. The elected candidates will be sworn in on January 8th, 2023.
District Attorney
Incumbent Brooke Jenkins defeated John Hamasaki with 56.3% of the vote compared to Hamasaki’s 43.7%. Jenkins, appointed Interim District Attorney by Mayor London Breed in July following the recall of Chesa Boudin, received 76,975 votes in the final round. Hamasaki tallied 59,747. Other candidates eliminated were Joe Alioto-Veronese and Maurice Chenier. Chenier received 7,100 votes and was eliminated in the first round, and Alioto-Veronese received 20,690 votes but was eliminated in round two.
District 2
Incumbent supervisor Catherine Stefani was re-elected with 100% of the vote after facing zero opposition.
District 4
Joel Engardio looks to defeat incumbent supervisor Gordon Mar with 51.76% of the vote to Mar’s 48.24%. Engardio received 7,272 votes, Mar received 6,777 votes.
District 6
Incumbent supervisor Matt Dorsey defeated Honey Mahogany with 57.79% of the vote to Mahagoney’s 42.21%. Dorsey received 4,828 votes, and Mahogany received 3,527. Other candidates eliminated in earlier rounds were Billie Cooper and Cherelle Jackson. Cooper was eliminated in round one after receiving 209 first-choice votes, whose votes went to the other three candidates. Jackson was eliminated in round two after receiving 351 votes, whose votes went to either Dorsey or Mahogany.
District 8
Incumbent supervisor Rafel Mandleman was re-elected with 76.87% of the vote, defeating Kate Stoia. Mandleman received 14,432 votes, and Stoia received 4,343 votes.
District 10
Incumbent supervisor Shamann Walton was re-elected with 69.94% of the vote, defeating Brain Sam Adam. Walton received 6,025 votes, Sam Adam received 2,589 votes.
Public Defender
Incumbent public defender Manu Raju was re-elected with 69.22% of the vote, defeating Becca Susan Feng Young. Raju received 91,981, Young received 40,905 votes.
