A Day of Action: Inside the November 4 PPP Day

Filmed by The Paper Tiger Staff ’25-26

November 4, 2025 — Lick-Wilmerding High School students spent the day engaging with over 40 local community partners. Through hands-on, collaboration-driven activities,  students actively deepened their understanding of public purpose.

Ravi Lau, Elena Ramirez Robles and Christine Godinez—the team behind the Center for Civic Engagement—connected student groups with Bay Area organizations such as GLIDE Memorial Church. In addition, PPP course instructors found ways for students to meaningfully apply their classroom learning. Some initiatives were also student-driven, including the City Bookworms club, which built “little free libraries” across the city.

A subset of students remained on campus, as the Performing Arts Department welcomed over 150 students from Aptos Middle School, St. Paul’s School and the Ruth Asawa School of the Arts. Visitors enjoyed performances from the Advanced Jazz Ensemble as well as a debut production of LWHS’ Fall Play, Little Women.

Ultimately, the day reminded community members of our mission of public purpose.
