Ms Konopka has chosen to comment on each song. The comments follow the order of the playlist.
1. Rock with You by Michael Jackson – I used to roller skate to this song back when roller skating was big. 2. Upside Down by Diana Ross – I remember my sister and I making up a dance routine to this song and putting on a “concert” for our parents as little kids 3. How Soon is Now by The Smiths – Lots of memories listening to this band in high school. I still love them. 4. Sweet Child of Mine by Guns N Roses – Hands down, the best concert I’ve ever been to was Guns n Roses in 1992. I had 10th row seats! It was amazing. 5. You Got Lucky by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers – hard to choose just one Tom Petty song – one of my favorite musicians 6. Me and Bobby McGee by Janis Joplin – the only time I have ever sung Karaoke was to this song. 7. Running out of Fools by Neko Case – the ultimate break up song. 8. Dance to the Music by Sly and the Family Stone – my go-to dance song. When the DJ played this song at our wedding reception, it got everyone on the dance floor. It’s one of my favorite memories from my wedding reception. 9. Joanna by Kool and the Gang – when my daughter (named Julianna, not Joanna – easy lyrics modification) was an infant and would get fussy, I would hold her and dance around our kitchen to this song. Sounds weird, but somehow it would make her stop crying, so I’m forever grateful to Kool and the Gang. 10. Back to Black by Amy Winehouse – I saw the documentary on Amy Winehouse a few months ago and it really affected me. She had such a powerful, beautiful voice.
Tom Petty is my fave (well, after Lauren Konopka)
