This spring the Lick-Wilmerding Theater department is putting on the musical Beauty and the Beast, a classic written by Linda Woolverton, composed by Alan Menken with lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice. The production promises magical sets, elaborate costumes, and thrilling dance numbers and vocals. The show features 28 Lick-Wilmerding actors and singers, an orchestra of student musicians, and a student design and production team in charge of sets, costumes, sound, lighting, and stage management. Kate Boyd will be heading design and production. Tony Asaro is in charge of vocal coaching, with Marty Stoddard leading the orchestra. Tabatha Robinson-Scott’s choreography is featured throughout. Miguel Zavala directs the talented cast, crew, and orchestra.
When asked about being part of the play Justin Detweiler ‘20 highlighted the talented cast, musicians, and crew. He said he is most excited about, “having the opportunity to collaborate with new folks that are truly awe inspiring and special.” Beauty and the Beast plays April 11-13 in Lick’s Ehrer Theater.
