Adam Anderson

Adam Anderson is joining the Lick-Wilmerding High School community as the new Chief Financial Officer. Since arriving on campus, Anderson has felt a strong sense of connection, confident that his personal values align with our school’s mission, history and curriculum. Anderson describes himself as “curious, creative and intentional,” qualities that he recognizes in members of our community.

Before LWHS, Anderson worked in public, private and non-profit organizations, with many over the last 15 years focused on K-12 public education. Additionally, he served as a senior administrator for Chicago public schools. He also has worked to facilitate consulting, strategy, operations and finance for school districts in Los Angeles, Austin and Philadelphia.

Since he moved to San Francisco in 2015, Anderson has been on the board for the local nonprofit the San Francisco Public Education Fund. “I just really believe in education as a way to support students and have opportunities to pursue whatever they hope to achieve in life,” he said.

Anderson grew up in Lompoc California, on the Vandenberg Air Force Base. As a first-generation college student, he attended California StateUniversity, Long Beach, and later earned both Business and Education graduate degrees from Stanford University.

For the ten years that he’s lived in San Francisco, Anderson has loved experiencing everything from hiking to live music and great restaurants. As a father of two five-year-olds, the Bay Area proves even more appealing. “Experiencing everything in the Bay Area, seeing it through my young children’s eyes is really energizing,” he said.

Anderson wants students to know that he is looking forward to watching how students “see their experience in LWHS continuing to improve, whether it’s academics, clubs, athletics or civic engagement,” he stated. “The private school with a public purpose really excited me,” he said. “Not just it being something that was on posters, but actually seeing the way it comes to life.”

When discussing how he can help our student body, Anderson said, “You know, this is your school, and…one thing I can do is try and prioritize our resources to be responsive to what students really want to experience.”
